Activity 1 - Winter Learning Journey

I would compete in the sport called horse racing. Why horse racing? Its because horse racing is something I have never done and I would personally think would be fun and challenging. So not only do I look for a sport that is fun but also gives me a bit of a challenge. This sport requires a person to sit on a chariot led by 2 or 4 horses and its a race to the end. This would probably take me a year and a half to actually be good at it. So I would choose horse racing if I was in the Olympics 2792 years back.

Let’s imagine that you were alive 2792 years ago and invited to compete in the first ever ancient Olympic Games. Which of these events: running, wrestling, boxing, pankration, horse racing and pentathlon which one would you compete in?

My Waka

This term in Team 5 we are learning about our very own house waka. My waka is Hokulea which has the special mission of promoting care for our Earth. Hokulea is waka that was made way... back in 1975. It is a replica of the old ancient long gone waka wa'a kaulua. Hokulea hopes to keep the traditions of our ancestors alive and they do that by travelling around the world promoting ways on how we can care for our earth!                                                             I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing what my whanau, my school and friends think about my new understanding that I have shared here on my blog.  I’m sure they’ll have tips for me too for my learning journey.

The Gestapo's most wanted

This week in Reading we are looking at a book called the Gestapo's most wanted. This story was set about 100 years back. War and violence can change and affect many people in different ways. It could force others to fight harder and force others to help those in need. To find out what happens to a lady by the name of Nancy Wake you will need to look further into this presentation!
